Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life Enhancement Fund

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life Enhancement Fund was established at TÿÈÕ³Ô¹Ï (UA) in 2025 to support student leadership, recruitment and retention enhancement, and professional development within the Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) community. These initiatives directly impact student retention, campus engagement, and leadership development.

Since the founding of the first fraternity at TÿÈÕ³Ô¹Ï in 1873, community has been an important part of membership in a fraternity or sorority at UA. When one joins a chapter, they develop close bonds of friendship and family, often called brotherhood or sisterhood. These bonds are further strengthened through the learning and sharing of chapter rituals, the diverse membership within the chapter, and all the time spent together. By joining the FSL community, students gain a larger support system that ranges from current students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

TÿÈÕ³Ô¹Ï's FSL community is committed to giving back through hands-on service and philanthropic support. Each fraternity and sorority encourages its members to volunteer their time at various non-profits in the greater ÿÈÕ³Ô¹Ï area, and chapter members often do service projects together. Each chapter supports at least one non-profit organization with monetary donations. Chapters hold a variety of events to help raise money for their philanthropies. The goal is to educate and empower students to become socially responsible, active, and contributing members of society both locally and globally.

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life (OFSL) engages students in diverse learning experiences through co-curricular involvement that fosters personal and organizational development. OFSL advocates for the fraternal movement by educating, advising, and empowering fraternity and sorority members to live in accordance with the values of their organization and our community.

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life Enhancement Fund is designed to support students and FSL chapters through three main areas: FSL Ambassador Program, Recruitment Programming Grants, and Professional Development.

1. FSL Ambassador Program

  • Outstanding FSL members chosen to represent the community to prospective students, families, and campus stakeholders
  • These ambassadors will help raise awareness of the positive contributions of FSL, increase interest during recruitment, and foster a more unified, informed Greek community
  • Students must be an active member of a recognized chapter in good standing with a minimum grade point average of 2.75
  • Students will be chosen by OFSL

2. Recruitment Programming Grants

  • Micro-grants provided to FSL chapters to increase the quality and creativity of recruitment and programming experiences offered
  • Applications are necessary for awarding; applications should include a budget proposal and impact statement
  • Chapters from all three councils may apply (lnterfraternity, Panhellenic, and National Pan-Hellenic)
  • Grants will be awarded by OFSL

3. Professional Development

  • Funds will be used to offset registration, travel, and lodging costs for leadership conferences
  • Open to all councils and inclusive of both undergraduate and graduate students
  • Encourages networking, innovation, and chapter improvement
  • Applications are necessary for awarding; applications should include a budget proposal and impact statement
  • Funds will be awarded by OFSL

These three initiatives will directly support FSL's mission to cultivate leadership, community, and student success at TÿÈÕ³Ô¹Ï. The programs are designed to meet student needs, increase visibility and engagement, and improve equity across the FSL experience.

Funds used for purposes other than qualified educational expenses are reportable and may be taxable to the recipient.
